National government agency

The Ministry of Tourism is responsible for directing, designing, promoting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating public policies regarding tourism at a national level. Its main functions are to plan, stimulate and promote tourism, and to create the conditions for the right to tourism to be accessible to all.
The Ministry is also responsible for planning tourism education and training programmes, promoting inclusive approaches to tourism, particularly in relation to gender, ethnicity, sexual diversity and disability, and encouraging the development of tourism infrastructures that respect and protect the country's natural, historical and cultural values.
It also seeks to decentralise territorial management by taking advantage of the different levels of geographical decentralisation, to regulate tourist activity and ensure compliance with these rules, and to collect and process relevant information.
