Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit to be held soon.

A collaborative work between the event organisers and ISTO Americas allows us to offer a special discount to ISTO members. Not to be missed, the event will take place between 6 and 9 September.

As in the last newsletter, the International Social Tourism Organisation and more particularly its section for the Americas, ISTO Americas, are supporting and co-organizing for the 5th consecutive time a new edition of the Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit. This event will be held in the facilities of the Melià Paradisus Cancún hotel, Mexico, from 6 to 9 September, for the first time in hybrid format, so that while a small group of people will meet in person, attending to all current health specifications, another significant number of participants will follow the conferences via streaming from the platform specially designed for this purpose. In addition, the event will have simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish to encourage exchanges between speakers and participants from different parts of the world.

In this 5th edition, the event will focus on the reinvention of tourism, so necessary at a global level and as a result of the reflections and the crisis to which the COVID-19 pandemic has led us. Rebuilding, rediscovering, regenerating, recovering tourism... These are some of the ideas that will be developed in this forum, which is already the main meeting place for specialists interested in social responsibility and sustainability of tourism in the region.

The programme presents, as always, current and very important topics to turn tourism into an environmentally friendly sector and a promoter of local well-being. The guest speakers come from countries as diverse as the United Kingdom, Brazil, Papua New Guinea, Italy, Japan, Spain, Canada and the Dominican Republic, as well as having a day dedicated to the Mesoamerican reef, an extremely important resource shared by Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

Topics such as regenerative tourism, technological innovation, challenges for post-covid recovery, tourism management in the territory and public-private collaboration experiences will be discussed in future editions of this newsletter.

Registrations are now open for both in-person and online registration at https://sustainablesocialtourism.org/. In order to encourage the participation of ISTO members, all those who indicate: ISTO10PRESENCIAL (in-person) or ISTO10VIRTUAL (online) in their registration will receive a 10% discount on their registration before 20 of August. This will be another not-to-be-missed event co-organised by ISTO - not to be missed!
